Today I am getting in touch with you to remind you of a scholarship/grant that your students can apply for if they would like to do an exchange semester or year at Management Center Innsbruck (MCI) or at any other university of applied sciences in Austria: Ernst Mach Grant for studying at an Austrian university of applied sciences (Fachhochschule)

We highly encourage you to nominate talented and motivated students J

This grant is for undergraduate and graduate students who would like to study at an Austrian university of applied sciences for one or two semesters during the 2020-2021 academic year (starting with fall semester 2020-21, e.g. September/October 2020). Students in almost all fields are eligible. The grant is EUR 1.050 per month. For more information on the grant and eligibility criteria, please go to www.grants.at and search for “Ernst Mach Grant for studying at an Austrian university of applied sciences (Fachhochschule)”.

The grant application deadline for the 2020-21 academic year is March 1, 2020. To apply for this grant, your students need the letter of acceptance from MCI. This means that they have to apply to MCI first, will then get their MCI letters of acceptance, and will subsequently be able to apply for the Ernst Mach Grant.

If you have any students wishing to study at MCI and to apply for the Ernst Mach Grant, please nominate them as soon as possible, but by early February 2020 the latest.  I will then send them the information on how to apply to MCI (via paper application; our online application for 2020-201 will only be available after the Ernst Mach Grant application deadline; the paper application is only preliminary, so that I can issue your students’ letters of acceptance; they will still have to apply to MCI online afterwards). Once they have finished their (preliminary paper) applications, I will send them their letters of acceptance, and they’ll be able to apply for the Ernst Mach Grant.

Please note that this is a grant offered by the Austrian government, not by MCI, and it is competitive. The better students prepare their grant application (esp. the reasons why they want to study in Austria/at MCI and how studying in Austria fits into their current studies and future plans), the greater their chances of getting the grant.

I would be grateful if you could share this information with your students.

An additional note: I will be out of office from this Friday (December 20) until January 13, 2020 enjoying my Christmas holidays in South Africa J therefore please understand that I will only be able to getting back to the students after I will be back in the office. Of course I will do my best to getting back to them as soon as possible, to make sure that they have enough time to fill in all documents.

Thank you for your help and please let me know if there are any questions or uncertainties at any time.

Warm wishes from Austria,
Sarah
